  1. As the topic says, sometimes my MPC crashes when going to the next item in the playlist.
It doesn't happen every time, sometimes I can play a dozen files before it happens.
Does this happen to someone else or am I a unique and beautiful snowflake? I'd hate it if this only happens to me because that means no one knows the problem or the solution.

I use MPC 6.4.9.0 and ffdshow-20051129 on Windows XP SP2 cleanly installed on a formatted harddrive one month ago.

Please tell me I'm not the only one!

Does it happen with the same files? Or does it happen randomly even with files you've successfully played before?

You can also try a newer version of ffdshow; it might be a problem with the build you're using.

  5. I've installed FFDSHOW 20060526 (that for some reason is only available on afterdawn.com) and I've gone through about 20 filechanges without a hitch, if the problem still persists I'll post in this thread again.

  6. I think I can officially call this problem solved.
I put two short filmsamples i had on repeat and did something else and it went through about two hundred changes without anything bad happening.

    Glad to hear it.

Hmm... celtic_druid also offers CVS builds of ffdshow, I believe... but I don't have any links available at the moment. (celtic_druid would know, though, of course. )

My builds need updating. Although there has been no updates to the svn, there have been several patches, plus there are probably some interesting things that could be ported over from ffmpeg. Also I think my last build was SSE2 only.

Fact is though that there are now plenty of other people providing ffdshow builds. When I started, there was basically no one other than the occasional offical build from Milan.

I have been having this same problem, not using ffdshow at all. Does anyone know what causes it? I know that 6.4.9.0 is buggy as the logo no longer works. I tried 6.4.7 and it crashes less often, but it still crashes.

I really need help on this issue. It seems to happen with all versions of MPC. I am currently using 6.4.8.8 because the Logo feature is broken in 6.4.8.9 and 6.4.9.0, but all three (plus 6.4.8.7) exhibit this problem. Crashing always occurs between videos, never while a video is playing. It will always occur in the same place if I play the same list of videos in the same sequence, so it is repeatable. If I play the two videos it happens between without the rest of the playlist, the problem does not occur! I ran Codec Sniper and deleted anything marked "broken" (a few Indeo related items) but that didn't fix it.

I should mention that it did not used to do this. A year ago I went through 8 lengthy playlists without a hitch. (build 6.4.8.7)

I FIXED IT! I FIXED IT! Someone on the Gabest forum suggested disabling some of the internal filters. I unchecked "AVI" under Internal Filters AND NOW IT DOESN'T CRASH ANYMORE!!!
