  1. Ok, I've been noticing this problem lately and I thought it was just my computer temporarily acting up, but whenever I have a window open and I open a link through that window and close that link, it not only closes the link but also the window where it opened from. It happens with several links too. If I open several links from a window, and close one, it closes all links including the window where it came from. I don't know why it's starting to do that all of a sudden, but it's really starting to really irritate me. Does anyone know what's going on? I don't like having to reopen windows and links over and over.

Have you tried going to 'Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Restore Defaults'? Unfortunately Windows Explorer is so integrated to the OS that it's not easy to delete and reinstall to fix problems.

Probably not the best solution if you really like IE, but you might try FireFox.

  3. Yeah I tried that, but I'm still getting the same problem. Although I've never tried firefox other than on someone else's computer, I hear that it's better. Either way, I want to know what the problem is. It's bugging the crap out of me.

Not that it's any help, but whenever I have strange issues such as this one occur, I usually just end up reloading the OS. Cleans up the computer and solves the problem.

I wonder if IEFix (http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm ) might help. It doesn't list the specific problem on the webpage, but reregistering all of IE's dlls might not hurt, either.
