I bought an ATI TV Wonder 128 a few months ago, but when I lost the CD and had to wipe my computer, I can no longer capture video.

I really need the driver CD to the multimedia center/capture programs/etc. I have a new video capture device (USB) and I need the software to capture the video from it, but I don't know where my ATI CD is and unless I have that I can't reinstall it.

Can someone give me the CD or something? Do you have a link to it? Please I need it. Or at least some really really good capture program. I'm trying to capture .WMV video (most preferrably at 320x240, good quality, and keep a 5 minute video at 10mb at most). I know the ATI MM has a converter.

    Help?

No, that's to download the drivers.
They don't work unless you actually have the CD ISO, and I wiped my computer and I don't have the software anymore.

    I know that.
I still need the original CD for the catalyst/multimedia center to work. It won't install without the CD. I know what I'm talking about :/

I have to BUY my CD back?
Yeah. ATI has lost it. Eff them.

  8. The only thing I ever saw that needed the origianl CD was their DVD player software.

I just downloaded the X1650 PCI Ex driver set today and installed it without needing the cd.

You do need a ATI device of course.

Why is it ATI's fault that they want to charge to replace something you lost. Charging is fair replacing for free would be nicer but charging is fair, not supplying discs or downloads then I'd say they lost it.

Are you trying to install CMC and not MMC, if so ATI has not put CMC on the web for download, you have to use the CD that came with the TV Wonder. Otherwise I've wiped my computer twice and both times I've downloaded the drivers and software for ATI's Multimedia Center from ATI's site for my TV Wonder Pro and Theater 550 Elite.

I don't understand this. You lost the CD. Why is it their fault?

Download the stuff from the ATI website(except for the DVD codec) and put it in a folder. When your computer asks for the CD, type in the path to the folder, hit ENTER.
Oh, and welcome to the forum...........

I really just want Multimedia Center
I've tried it and it doesn't work.
When I get to the installer, the installshield comes up for a second, and then disappears.

It seems that ATI's download site offers multiple sets of drivers & software. There are the basic drivers and Windows WDM (which is used for capture), the Media Center, then usually a set of MDAC/DAO database stuff (for the MMC), and the Ati Media Encoder. The Media Encoder is ATI's file player. The only thing you need the player for is to play videos, but there are plenty of better ones around. Just download everything except the player software.

I don't think I've used the MMC for capture in years. I've always used VirtualDub-to-AVI. In any case, MMC does not require that you install the video player. If you have MPEG edit or DVD authoring software on your machine, don't you have an "encoder"?

oops. I forgot...Doesn't ATI's MMC installer give you a list of options available to install? If there is such a list, just don't check the encoder option. If no list, then when the installer asked for the encoder/update or whatever, point to any location on your PC (the Ati "Support" files folder is a good choice). The update won't be found and you'll get a message that the encoder wasn't installed. MMC should still work.

If none of the above works at all, then ATI has made a vast change in its installer programs. In the past, I've installed many ATI MMC drivers/updates but never installed the media player.
On the other hand, ATI and others are getting pretty tense about pirated software, so maybe your problem is the result of their security measures.

Or you can check eBay for a used TVW with drivers. So who cares if the card itself might be busted (on eBay, it probably is). All you want is the CD. Probably cheaper than buying it from ATI, and many install CD's for other ATi cards of that era contain the software for a whole range of '128' products. All you need is a CD for a '128' product that used MMC and the media player, such as older AllInWonder's that used Rage 128 chips.

I feel you on this one. Either the other posters in this thread use a different card than we do, or the last install they did was with a MMC version that didn't require a prior version, or the MMC version they installed recognized a file(s) of a prior version on their pc (especially if all they didn't truly wipe the drive).

Bottom line--they aren't in the same boat we are. I'm looking for that damn disc, and if I find it, I'll send you an ISO of it!

I started to work my way backwards in versions to find one that installed, and 8.8 is the one. I'm watching tv right now and used the drivers from ati.com. I tried 9.0 and 8.9, but 8.8 is the first that worked. I haven't attempted to update yet, so I don't know if 9.16 will work.

    Here's where I grabbed 8.8 from:
    http://www.tbacs.com/Files/Drivers/TV%20Wonder/

It went at 60K/sec, but it was worth it to have a working installer!

Sorry for the double-post, but I want to ensure that dogenzaka checks the thread again...

I attempted to update with 9.16 and I received a "network error" (odd wording it used) about reading mmc88.msi, so I grabbed it from C:\windows\Downloaded Installations\{C2EF8398-B74B-44C2-BA32-AE3961CA5ECC} and copied it into the directory that the error message stated that it couldn't read from, which was C:\windows\Downloaded Installations\{688ACAD9-13B1-4452-ADEC-277BA3F52150}. The blue will be named differently for you. So if you have a bunch of folders in "downloaded installations" folder, just do a search for "mmc88.msi", then copy it into the same directory that has "ATI Multimedia Center.msi".

It seemed to install just fine, but I didn't get any updated files and running the TV still shows 8.8. I tried again and it gave me another error about not being able to read the original MSI, so I'm just calling it quits since it's working with 8.8.

I only have one issue with this 8.8...when I run the TV, it gives me an error about not being able to start EZLook and to update my Radeon drivers; this only happens once, whenever I run the TV. This is weird for two reasons: 1) I opted not to install EZLook when I installed 8.8 and 2) I have an nVidia card in my system.

All in all, it's working to my satisfaction.
