I've recently started capping shows in HD format (.TS) and I would like to convert them to XviD for archiving. Say it's about a 45 min. video and I want to convert it to XviD...about how long would this take. These are my system specs...

    WinXP SP2
    Athlon XP-M2800+
    512 MB RAM
    Gigabyte Radeon 9550 256 MB

    thanks for any info.

    1 pass or 2 pass?

20 seconds of HD footage. Try it out yourself

Depends on what you encode them to. To give you a rough idea, every now and then I encode a few Discovery Channel 1080i captures to 720p. Using Dr. Divx with bit rates of about 3000 Kbps, it takes probably 7-8 hours to encode about 45 minutes of video. Yes, it takes a long time to do Divx/Xvid high def encodings, but it takes MUCH longer to encode with H.264/X.264, maybe 2 to 3 times as long as Divx/Xvid encodings.
