I bought a Canon HV10 camcorder. My Mitsubishi HDTV (6 years old now) has IEEE1394. The Canon works via firewire on my TV! No other cameras in the past worked. FYI: If I record in HDV, it plays fine - looks like DiscoveryHD. But, in DV playback I get nothing. I have 3 component inputs: analog, 480 & 1080. The analog is used for my DVD player & the 1080 is used by my HD SAT box. I don't have HDMI or DVI inputs on my TV. I know I will have to upgrade soon because IEEE1394 is not very common.
MY question is: Can I convert IEEE1394 (firewire cable), to HDMI or DVI?
