I just upgraded to JVC GY-HD100 (from a DV cam) to record and stream (live) Church events. At the moment I can only do this in DV mode since my streaming software (windows media encoder) can't handle HDV. Is it possible to record HDV to tape and at the same time capture DV via FireWire? I don't know how to make this work on the JVC.
What's the advantage of shooting in HD if I'm just going to be producing DVDs?
What media types (apart form hard-drives) can be used to burn HD formats?

the camera should have a separate setting in the menu for playback output - HDV or DV over firewire - to allow in-cam conversion. but, it may just be for playback not live streaming.

I like the idea of recording in HDV and capturing standard def S-Video/audio to Windows Media Encoder for streaming. Of course the price of this is storage.
