I have attempted to burn several dvds on this external burner using nero 6.0. Almost every dvd I have burned with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 has either not played on my regular dvd player (Panasonic DVD RP62) or played with a lot of problems (freezing; problems w/ picture, etc..)

I'm seriously thinking of getting rid of this external burner. The dvds play fine on the computer, but I want to watch them on the television. Any suggestions for a good external burner? (I've been checking out Lite-on and Sony lately) Thanks.

Some SONY drives are rebadged LITEON's. What brands of dvd media are you using? Usually freezing problems are from low grade media. Use DVDINFO PRO or DVD IDENTIFIER to find out the media id of those dvd discs that you're using. Try using IMGBURN to burn your dvd discs. What software are you using to backup your dvds?

    Read the guides: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s=c4530298c6d6c65cfbcc778bb8388e23&showforum=4

When using DVDSHRINK you can create a ISO image instead of the VIDEO_TS folder. Then use IMGBURN to burn the ISO image you created.

Before you get rid of your DVDwriter

Is the writer on a USB2.0 port? If you are running USB1.1, the drive could be underrunning.

Have all of the DVDs been the same brand of media? Does it fail with others?

Does your Panny reliably read burned DVDs from any writer?

    ...Multi-Format Playback (Playable Disc Type) DVD-Video, DVD-R, Video CD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW...
It seems to be a 4 year old player that only supports DVD-R. have you considered upgrading it?
