There is a new looking Panasonic AG-1980P on Ebay that had almost 300 lookers but no buyers? Item #180071170409. It is from a company with no negative feedback in the past 12 months, does anyone have an idea why no one would buy it, because it is only about 200 more than others sell that look to be in a lot worse condition?

Its an old SVHS 'editor'. Those who needed'em got'em long time ago... and I doubt there is much of the market for a VCR (even a SVHS one) nowadays.
Asking $300 for very outdated and used tech might be exactly what drove those few hundred ebayers to check out what is it, "why he wants so much for it".
Perhaps if you had it complete with Panasonic's editing terminal it would sell?
Or maybe its just as the previous poster said.

    @ gymnastgirl...

This Panasonic AG1980-P unit is fantastic..
As far as the item number goes, since you've only got the "Buy Now" option, and no bidding option, people would rather wait out for a unit that gets fair bidding...and hopefully save a few bucks..

Unfortunately, there's no better description, documentation or history on the item itself, so people might also be aprehensive..I'd only dish out this kind of money if it came from a large Ebay store that's dedicated to video equipment. Just for piece of mind.
But if you've followed them for the last few months, you'd see how hard they are to come buy at a cheap price..

DereX888's comments are way off base..Especially for people who are in the "Restoration" and transfer business..They totally know why these babies are worth their money and are becoming harder to come by. I don't see the reason for an editing unit personally (since most people don't linear edit anymore)...
Anybody looking at this particular unit knows where good restoration and transfer begins.

Your own budget can determine if you want it or not...I'd personally try and get it for cheaper.

    Good luck!!!

Hmm... I too own very same model too, and I know it is good.
But would I pay $300 if I need it?
    No.
But of course maybe someone else would

    It says $550 not $300
You can always email them asking what the lowest price is they would take...not against policy since you're not offering any money.

  7. Yep, thats the price, you can't offer $1 for it. First bid must be $550.

Lol. What a price. Shipping is another $25.00

This is not a sniping kind of situation where you wait for last minute.

We made a lot of surf movies on S-VHS decks like that, two of them together with an edit controller. But that was before computers were invented. I wouldn't pay $550 for it, that's for sure. We dumped S-VHS for Hi8. There was that trick where we drilled a hole in regular VHS tapes so they would play on S-VHS decks, or was it the other way around?

    I would not pay $550 for a 20-year-old VCR.
