  1. Ok,
I have a client who is presenting a speech and he is using the clip from Cool Hand Luke where he eats the eggs. I have the DVD so I thought I could pull the .vob file into my Ulead Video Studio 10 and edit it so that I could use that part. But when I pull the video over about every other second the audio puases and the video is just a little choppy. Is there another program I could use for this that might be better?

    Thanks for your help.

Is the source PAL or NTSC ?
Are you changing this (i.e converting from NTSC to PAL, or PAL to NTSC) ?
Have you tried VOB2MPG to extract the video and audio to load in Ulead, instead of using the VOB.

  3. guns1inger,
    This is NTSC.
I am not changing it I am going to keep it as a NTSC.
I just tried VOB2MPG and it appeared to not do anything. I selected the folder containing the VOB files and then gave it a folder to create the MPG to but it appears that it didn't realy do anything.

When I pull the VTS_01_2.vob file over from the DVD to my hard drive and just play the .vob file it works fine. But it just seems to be bad once I run it through my Ulead. Also, the sound doesn't match there mouths.

    Thanks for your help,

What does "appears that it didn't realy do anything" mean ? Help us help you

Did you decrypt the DVD with DVDFabDecrypter or similar? You have to do that in order to work with the VOB on your hard drive. http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

The other option is to install AnyDVD which will decrypt your VOBs on the fly, so you don't need to rip the DVD to your hard drive.

  5. Thanks guys I finally got VOB2MPG to work.
Kinda on the same note: taking some VHS tapes to DVD( just about 5-10 minutes) and when I play them on my computer the bottom of the video, just like a line at the bottom, is real staticy. What causes this and is there a way to get rid of it. I've talked to several different people who have experienced the same thing. Any ideas???

Thanks again for all your help.

It's called head switching noise and you see it on a PC but on a TV you won't as it's in the overscan area. If that's still a problem you can crop it out using a good editing program, not sure if Video Studio does that or not.

  7. Thanks for the correct terminology "head switching noise ". I never knew what that was called. Ulead does not support cropping. Do you know of any program, prefereably free, that will allow you to crop a video?

    thanks,
