I have two main problems here that I'd appreciate some help with.

The first is more confusing than a flat out problem. When I start the program and select "Capture AVI...", the screen should display what my currently selected device is sending, right? Well, it doesn't. It's just a black screen. I tinkered and tinkered with it for a good ten minutes and suddenly, after switching back and forth between the tuner and an s-video input, the image appeared and all was well for that session. After restarting the program, my trick of switching back and forth between sources no longer works. Switching between "Overlay" and "Preview" does nothing.

The second problem is that I can't record audio. It says it's recording audio and I can hear audio while recording, but in the end, it doesn't save to the file.

I really don't know how to elaborate further, so I'll just answer questions.

I have the same problem, n still having them. I switch "Capture filters..." from NTSC-M to PAL-B, everytime I switch off VirtualDub it'll switch back to NSTC-M (dunno how to make it permanent). If it still doesn't work I turn on the Winfast PVR software (that came with my Tuner) to activate the driver (don't close Virtualdub) error message will appear, I click OK then the picture appear to Virtualdub screen.
I still need to do this routine everytime I'd like to capture using virtualdub, anyone knows how to avoid this routine?

I also have a Winfast PVR. For analogue capture I use VirtualVCR. It seems to remember my settings and works a damn sight better than virtualdub for capture.
