  5. I think you have bought something that is too good to be true.

Unless the cable has some electronics built in, you can't simply go from S-video to composite.

This company claims to have cables that do that:

    and they have a warning:

"Beware of chinese imitations that use bulky cable and mumbo jumbo advertising hype."

(According to this site, you can simply put a capacitor in series with the chroma signal to generate a composite signal.)

"RCA" connection (yellow) cannot handle audio. Does not make sense.

Are you sure you aren't connecting to the F cable connection?

S-video to composite can be done but no audio is involved.

First choice, find the cable that came with the card. It will provide composite output from pins 8 to ground.

If you only have the S-Video cable, use an adapter like this to sum luma and chroma

That's what I meant to say. If you have a cheap imitation of the cable that I linked above, you will only get black and white.

Without some electronics, you cannot simply go from S-video to composite and get the color. You'll only get the black and white.

It seems that you can buy cables that put a capacitor inside that does a crude conversion, but not perfect.

I suspect you need to send the cable back to the eBay seller and get one from the other company.

However, I doubt the quality can be as good as using a "proper" circuit to do the conversion.
