Hi,
I am looking for a good Audio/Video Transmitter to use on my television so that I can watch my satellite in another room when I am not in the room that has the receiver.
I have several choices in mind but wanted to wait and see what you all suggested first and see if they match what I have been looking at.
Here's what I am looking for...
-I have about $100 or so to spend
-Good Audio/Video quality
-Good Tx/Rx distance for both the signal and remote control(through walls?)
- My house is old and I have a metal roof,I don't think this will be much of a concern if any but I just want to make clear what my surroundings are
-I do have several cordless phones and multiple cell phones(nothing else that I can think of(at the moment)that is wireless).I read that some of these things can be a problem for these transmitters in the 2.4 Ghz range?
-I'm new to this so if I left anything out that I may want Please feel free to suggest other features,advantages/disadvantages
Thank You
LCE

Hey! This is a family place!
I had one of the X10 units about 5 years ago - when it worked it worked okay but really difficult to get a clean signal. New ones may be better but I wouldn't recommend the old units.
Also interested if anyone has a working suggestion. -
The Belkin PureAV AV55000 is the best ive seen for the money and work very very well for component ... but more than $100 - it works even really bad RF areas and does 480i and 480p over component or comp. or s-video
the leapfrog type (ls30s ? i think) work OK - sometimes .. if you have ANY 2.4ghz phones or networking nearby .. forget it ...
but they are the best of the 2.4ghz breed ...
the few (cheap) 5.8GHz Wireless Audio Video Transmitters work much better but a built ultra cheap and seem to have an issue with working very long ...."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
Hi SquirrelDip,
That was kind 'a disturbing wasn't it
The X10 is one of the units I had been looking at http://www.x10.com/products4/google/wireless_video_sender_vk80a_t.html
Is the one here for $50 one of the ones you had?
I was also looking at the Radio Shack model( http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102464&cp=2032057&f=Taxonomy%2F...entPage=search )
mainly because its close and I can return it if needed a lot easier and quicker.
It looks awful similar to the Medion MD 9048
I was also looking at a DOSS AV unit as well.
Hi BJ_M,
Yes, I was looking at the Belkin PureAV AV55000 but its alittle of of my range and I fear I would be severely beaten if I bought one.
I did a search for ls30s but am not really sure if what I found is what you mention.
Thanks

leapfrog http://www.smarthome.com/7656l.html
also sold under radioshack name i think .. very popular"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
@LCE - Yep that looks like the one I had. Says "New and Improved" but somehow I doubt it (New and improved sticker on box probably).
I think it's the same electronics as the Radio Shack model and as you said - easier to return to Radio Shack. Give it a try and let us know if they're really "New and Improved" (don't hold your breath tho). -
Thanks BJ_M, a little more searching and I was able to find that site last night.

I think I will give the RS one a try...and doubt worry I never was one to hold my breath
I'll let you all know how it turns out.
Appreciate the Help

I ended up buying one of these last week:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-hY8yQuUTuks/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=209LF30S
It works pretty well. I use it from a living room VCR to a small kitchen tv, so I can watch cable. Used it for several days now, very happy.
And if you want to order it, and have never ordered from Crutchfield before, PM me for a referral code, and you'll get $20 off your first purchase.
It's 2.4Ghz. I have a 2.4Ghz cordless phone and a wireless router, and have no interference issues. It flips out when I turn the microwave on, but that's understandable, and the microwave only runs a few minutes anyway, in a given day.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Bah humbug, just run a cable.
If you do use one of those transmitters, set the signal strength to it's highest setting so that your neighbors can watch your porn too. -
