Has anyone ever tried this or something similar?
This great little kit allows you to send any audio and video source (like a VCR or TV camera) to any TV set for up to 300 feet. Have your own TV station with YOU playing producer and YOUR selection of programming! And, the nice feature of this kit is that you'll learn just how a TV transmitter works; we explain every part of the circuit from A to Z. Tunable to any TV channel 2 - 6, runs on 12 VDC, and accepts standard audio and video signals. Includes an attractive custom case for a finished look!

Tried it for what? I haven't tried this specific model, but these types of kits are nothing new, and they do work. It's just a low power transmitter and I'm sure it works reasonably well, but I didn't find the one I had very useful as you have no control over the source when you're watching in another room. When in the same room, cables provide a better, more reliable signal, free from interference. IIRC it was a good exercise in electronics and soldering.

The one I had worked from the basement to the living room above, but I never really tried it for any distance or outside. The one you link to boasts a range of 300', but I'm sure that's for direct , uninterrupted, ideal conditions. Keep in mind that these kits are sold for the educational value, not the practical application. I'm sure they include some disclaimer about local conditions affecting the range.

I haven't used the TV transmitter but have used a similar on transmitting FM. They work but there are problems - weak signal is the first but even more problematic is maintaining the correct channel.
These units are analog tuned not digital so frequency will fluctuate.
But for $40 it may be worth playing with... -
Thanks! Ramsey has a good reputation with LPFM. With any luck their TV transmitter works well too.
I heard some people have attached antennas directly to commercial Audio Video Modulators (Blonder Tongue, etc.) I wonder how well this works???
