Hi, I am new to this forum and need assistance with hiding the timer counter on my philips dvp642. I just purchased it two days ago and am loving it so far. The only problem I have is that when I am playing an avi movie, the time counter appears in the top right hand corner and can't figure out how to hide it. I went into the menu and cannot find the option to hide. Is this something I will just have to live with?

  2. Probably not. If you have on the remote a button with name OSD try to press it.

Thanks for the reply Abond. I tried the display button and it doesn't remove it. Any other ideas?

    A Google search using:
turn off time display Philips DVP-642
has as it's first match an old forum post. That post has a link to another post which is:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=317193
where it tells you how to do this.

It's a good thing you didn't ask this on the Doom9 forum because they would have crucified you for not doing a search on this. We're nicer here

Thanks Jman98, much appreciated. I did try a google search but probably didn't use the right key words which is why I ended up here. I posted here as this is the newbie forum and would expect a little more patience.

    thanks again,

Yeah, I thought that maybe you did a search on "time counter" and that pulls up a bunch of bad matches, so I thought I'd tell you what did work so you'd know for future reference. Welcome to the forums!
