    To record cellphone videos , which one is better: mp4 or 3gp? thanks

  2. Although they are both MPEG-4 I would use MP4 because it's supported by most encoders and players,3GP is supported by Quicktime 7+.

    do you mean which format to convert to, to play the video on your phone

    3gp will be slightly smaller than mp4, at the same file specs ( bit rate , fps, res ,& audio )

    many phones only play mp4 at very specific settings that match the phones camcorder functions, not generic mp4

    my lg9900 plays mp4 and 3g2 and 3gp, but i almost always convert to 3g2 for the phone,

    when i see a file with that extension, i know immediately that i converted it for my phone and NOT for some other device

    to answer your question, ME i would use 3gp for that phone
