I need to create a NTSC DVD from a part of an NTSC DVD.

Do I undertand right that I have to go through all the way like DGMPDIndex, create d2v file with it, encode it anew with Precoder and so on.

Is there a shorter way without rencoding the part that I am going to use for the new DVD? What would be the most optimal way to this? Thanks!

Simplest way, if it is just one contiguous section fro an existing disc, is DVD Shrink. Rip the disc to your HDD, open it in Shrink and click on Re-Author. Drag the title you need a part of from the right to the left hand pane. Right-click on it and select Set Start and End Points. Adjust until you have the section you need. Click on OK, then Backup, and create a new DVD, ready to burn, with the just the part you need. No re-encoding, no quality loss.

I have created the DVD with DVDShrink and I need to add it up to another NTSC DVD, to make one Title set of the two.

I am trying to use DVD2one for this purpose. One DVD is a big one while the second one consists just of one VOB and bups and ifo files.

DVD2One opens the big one but once I try to open the short one, DVD2One gives error message: "....\VIDEO_VTS does not contain a valid DVD file set that can be joined"

The short one can be played as a DVD and DVDShrink opens it with no problem.

What should I do to fix the problem? Thanks.

Try the demo of TDA ? It is fully working for 30 days. The Add Video function will read the contents of VOBs.

I do have TDA but I do not understand how to remove extra chapter points to make the joint smooth.

DVD2One does this automatically. That's why I use it for joining DVDs. Can it be that it is happening because the second DVD is so small? I tried to open it first in DVD2One and it worked but unfortunately I cannot join them this way -)

I tried it again and it joined the smal one but not in smooth mode. It still does not join it in the smooth mode.

I have never used or looked at DVD2ONE. Another alternative you be to extract the video/audio tracks from the VOBs (VOB2MPG) then join them using an mpeg editor like Womble. Worst case, avisynth and re-encode.

    guns1inger,

Can I do the following: to take VOBs from both DVDs; rename the VOB from the small DVD to VTS_01_05 and use IfoEdit to create a new DVD that would include both.

Actually both DVDs are the same movie. But in the first (big) one the ending of the movie (DVD) was made of avi. Now I've got the neding in the original DVD format (but it is PAL) and would like to replace the ending made of avi with the one in DVD format.

No.. but after your new backup created by shrink, you can rename them to VTS_01_001.VOB, VTS_01_002.VOB, etc. then use VOBedit ,to join, then IfoEdit... but it's lots of work!!!!

If you want to make life easy for yourself get Mpeg Video Wizard DVD from Womble.
In there you can cut, join, transition VOB's without any conversion.
