    Hi everyone

I am looking to capture a live event and then broadcast it in real time. I am ok with the fact that they might be a bit of a delay.

Currently this is roughly what I was thinking and think is feasible for me. Please help with the current thought process

    1) camera which will record the show connected to the laptop using firewire
    2) use movie maker to capture the stream and encode into 340kbps
    3) after each clip in the event is captured upload it using an internet connection that is available
    4) the video that is uploaded on my server is now available for vieiwing on my site.

This is bad because I have to create many clips in order to get the video to be encoded in movie maker and have to keep starting and stopping the capture of the show. Now what I really wanna be able to do is

    1) capture the whole live event
    2) encode on the fly AND upload it at the same time to my site (or a distribution site)
    3) show the content streaming live rather than on demand as would be the case in my situation described above.

anyone have ideas on what can be the best solutions? Software which will let me do on the fly encoding and the ability to upload at same time? Is there some hardware which I should look into?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried Windows Media Encoder? it can record live and stream it. I'm not sure how you can upload it directly.

    See http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/howto/articles/device_control.aspx

I haven't tried this, but it should work in theory. Download FTPdrive

    http://www.killprog.com/FDinst.exe

You can then map your FTP site as a drive letter in Windows -

    F:\> = \\41.21.41.89\myfolder

Then have your capture software save everything to drive F:

List of many free ones to try out:

Hi guys so how do the big distribution networks want you to actually upload to their server? I had a look at some of the suggestions and thank you

    1) windows media encoder - my site runs in flash. What i do is make the video smaller right now using movie maker then take it up to my server which converts it into flv file and then makes it available for progressive download stream.

    2) the ftp upload idea is simple and reasonable but only if the distrubtion networks actually support this? does anyone know?

Anyone with knowledge of how these distribution sites work and allow you to stream events?
