[Need Your Advice] DV from Camcorder to Laptop with firewire

Hi,
My laptop (dell 6400) and camcorder (panasonic NV-GX7) both have a 4-pin firewire port (IEEE 1394),

a) Is it with a 4-pin to 4-pin firewire cable and a video capture software, I can capture video from camcorder DV?

b) Is firewire cater both video and audio or vdeo alone only?

c) or do I need the adapters below, anyone use them before?
