My LG GSA-4160B can't burn or erase rewriteable CDs or DVDs.
    It says illegal media.
It burns the R discs fine.
I attached the log file from Nero.
It used to work, the problem started a few weeks ago.

    Anyone could help, please ?

Has firmware been updated? Firmware updates often fix media related problems.

Has this media worked for you before?

The error log is consistant with media incompatibility.

The reports in the media list are mixed also suggesting media incompatibility.

This being an LG drive of some age there is a possibility of needing cleaning or lubrication.

  5. It's hard to find many burners that do well with 6x DVD-RW. Using an older burner like the 4160 with a max of 4x CLV for dvd-rw only increases the likelyhood of failure. If you've used these with success before then the suggestions for cleaning/lubrication would be in order - otherwise try a 2x or 4x dvd-rw. Good luck.

I've noticed that when I format my RWs, I can't record on them, so I no longer do it. It works. Hope this helps.

I tried cleaning the drive with a cleaner-disc but it didn't help.
The problem occurs not only when i try to burn 6x but with 2x and 4x too. And I used to burn them before.
    Btw thanks for the suggestions.
    Other ideas?
