    Hi,

    I'm encoding a film with the big 3 (BatchCCEWS 0.1.9.7 Beta5, CCE 2.70.01.05)

I have it configured for Robshot batch multipass, 5 passes,

The thing is OK till the first pass, I see the size I want (3500MB), but from second pass on the size change to only 380 MB.
And that happens with the three other files I have to encode from this DVD, all with wrong sizes.

    Thanks in advance

If you set up an encode manually in CCE does it work ?

No, it doesn't. I also reinstalled CCE and even used a different CCE version, and always end up with a wrong size, very small.

I think it must be something affecting this film and CCE. I've been using CCE for years and it's the first time something like that happens.

Yesterday I encoded the same film with Procoder and had no problem at all

When you set it manually, what settings do you use ?

Never been a fan of constant quality encoding for this very reason. Some swear by it, but I find that it has a tendency to to produce some very odd output.

I can suggest two things to try

    1. Use an avisynth script to shield CCE from the original avi file. Something in the original encoding might be putting it off.

    2. Set a proper multi-pass VBR encode using a max/min/avg bitrate setting for your running time and target file size.

  7. You can set Q-Factors only in 1-pass VBR.

And I use CQ encoding as often as I can (usually for DVD extras).

Sorry if I didn't explain it well.
I use Multipass VBR with max/min/avg bitrate.

I just posted the Q factor because I thaught it was relevant for the settings, even if I use the VBR multipass. I thaught the vaf prior to all the passes from the multipass uses that Q factor.

Anyway I never had this problem size with CCE. I think I'll have to wait to the next film I encode to see if it happens again and it's a serious problem.

Well, I found out that the size problem was caused by the AviSynth v2.5.7 alpha3 etc.

I changed to the previous version, Avisynth 2.5.6, and the problem with CCE disappeared.
