I'm in the market for a DVD writer, and was wondering what some of you that have already purchased would recommend. The unit will be strictly for personal use, and not distribution, so compatibility with set top boxes is minor as long as it's compatible with mine. That said, what format would ppl in the know recommend. DVD-RW or DVD+RW. I notice a large difference in the price of the media. The drive price difference is minor, and a one time expense, but after a hundred or so disks, 5-10 bucks a pop adds up to quite a bit.
Also, part of the reason for this, is I want to get all my mini-DV AND analog tapes to DVD. The DV is no problem, I have a IEEE1394 board and it works fine. But what would you recommend for analog capture that will give good quality at a reasonable price?
