Capture stereo sound and quality video from analog camcorder to dvd

This has probably been answered 100 times but i cant find anything specific. I have vhs-c tapes of home movies. Im trying to archive everything on digital.
I have a sharp analog camcorder that was used to make the videos and a dvd player/writer. I connected the camcorder through a/v cables (red,white,yellow) to my dvd writer. I am able to play back the video on the camcorder and in real time have the dvd burner copy it on a re-writable dvd.
Everything worked great, similar quality on dvd playback as on actual vhs-c tape.
My question is how do i get it to not play in mono sound. It is only playing through one speaker. Unfortunately the camcorder only has 1 audio out. Is there an easy way out of this? I want to get these videos of my family on my computer in the worst way but mono sound is annoying. Please help!

If the camcorder has only one audio out it is mono. To get mono on to both tracks ...

1. check for mono audio settings in DVD recorder menus

2. or, use a Y adapter to feed L and R channels


3. or, reauthor DVD with audio on both channels
