Every time I capture with Avi_Io it just clicks and says capture ended. I was under the impression that I could use this software and register it. I haven't registered it, but I also never really used it.

You need to switch the on screen display from "Overlay" to "Preview" (or turn it off altogether!)

AVI_IO (as well as every other piece of capture software) cannot capture high vertical resolution video in overlay mode.

    Hey Dave!!

I tried that and it didn't work. As soon as I click ok to capture it just waits a second and then says capture finished. I don't mind paying $25.00 if that is what it is, but damn I never really got to use it. What if I do use it and don't like it? Is it better than V Dub, because I can't get vdub to stop dropping my frames, and it is a resource hog. What about timer settings in there is there anything I can change?

Hold on a secong I just did something. I tried to capture and it stopped. Then I pressed the play button and it said played back fine or something, but....... the screen turned a different color blue, got darker. I pressed capture again and it began working. Woo Hoo!! Do you know what I may have done?

I changed to AVI_IO for the exact same reason that I couldn't get Virtualdub to stop dropping the occasional frame every couple of seconds.

What capture card are you using, what resolution or codec are you capturing into?

Check you have correctly configured the path and file you want to capture to and have selected the appropriate capture device.

  7. let me ask you this: have you ever gotten Virtualdub or AVI_IO to work? Or is this your first time? What sort of video card do you have? I'm just wondering if you have an ATI card and haven't installed the wfm wrapper.....

Macros>> I have a WinTv Go card (tv tuner) I had V Dub working perfect for a while, but then I started messing with drivers and it wasn't the same. The driver I use is WDM for Xp, apparently it is garbage. But, it appears that the VFW one won't work. I don't know how true. I can't capture over 352 X 240. Sucks. I hear it is the driver. I want to capture at like 640 X 480 or something a little higher and then compress down, supposedly that gives a higher quality result.

I use the VFW driver in XP and it works just fine. I can capture all the way up to 720x480 without a hitch.

I'd try using the VFW drivers(w2kdrv311.exe)with Virtual Dub and see if it works. I don't know what all this non-sense I keep hearing about the VFW drivers not working in XP. In my opinion they work better than the WDM drivers. But then again VDUB is a VFW based capture program, so that might be why.

I have that 3.11 VFW driver, but when I go to switch, it was telling me that my tv card was not recognized or s0omething. I will have to try again. How do I get V Dub, and Avi_IO to recognize the driver?

    Thanks.

Actually In response to V Dub being a VFW program, is Avi_IO also? Because I can't capture above 352 X240 with that. All I want is like 480 X 480 or 352 X 480. I would capture with Videowave 5, but I am having a hard time saving the settings.
