I recently made some data cds of video (avi files) and my liteon dd-a110 played them fine, recently I burned some video files bigger than 700mb to data dvd assuming it would play them as well. When i inserted the disc it said "invalid disc" in the top left corner of the screen, any idea why it would play data cds but not data dvds?

The video files work fine on my computer

Maybe you didn't burn the DATA DVD correctly? I use NERO EXPRESS (part of the NERO package) for making DATA DVD discs. It makes sure everything is set up correctly so it is a "no brainer" and a good way to burn a DATA DVD which is kinda funny since NERO is not the best at burning DVD Video discs.

Anyways I think you have to burn the DATA DVD as ISO + UDF ... not just one or the other. So that might be the problem.

ImgBurn can do a DATA DVD although I've never tried to do that myself but ImgBurn is the best software for DVD Video burning so I would think it would also do well at burning DATA DVD discs. ImgBurn is also freeware software.

It is possible that your MPEG-4 capable DVD player can only play MPEG-4 files from CD. It is rare but I have read of other models that are like that (will work from CD but not DVD). However my hunch is that you did the burning incorrectly.
