  1. I using ffmpegx to convert dvd vob files to ipod mp4 and it finishes encoding in just 1-2 seconds and the mp4 file it creates is empty only 4k and will not play back. What am I doing wrong?

    Press the blue "i" in the ffmpegX Progress window. This will bring up a Process Information window (log, if you will) which may contain an error. Post the log here, so we can have a look and suggest how to prevent the error.

    Get the file size on VTS_08_1.VOB. If it's very small, say under 1 MB, then it may not be a regular video file. E.g. an "All rights reserved" warning clip could be 600 KB, but hardly interesting on your iPod.
    Other than that, I have no idea why one VOB wouldn't open while others would.

    I'm actually having this same problem. I'm backing up a DVD, and I've gotten VOB's 1, 2, 3, and 5. For some reason, number four just skips straight to 'Finished', and the file is empty. I've check the file size and it's the same as all the others. I'm not sure what the problem is..
