... maybe I'm doing something wrong -- I am a newbie, you know? I extracted (is that the word?) an iso file. MySonic tries to play it and says "invalid-something" and then I click the OK button and the MySonic program opens up as if I want to edit and create a DVD or something. This is what I've done so far

    1) d/l .iso file
    2) t'fered .iso file to CD
    3) got isobuster
    4) ???? why isn't this working????

    Thanks,

    Moe B Disc

Zipgenious can extract content from iso .

    If under 800mb's , assume cd .
If over , assume dvd .

Mount image file using microsoft's utility , or the sheep found here :

    http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Tools/Virtual-CD-DVD-Rom/Virtual-CloneDrive.shtml

This one atleast use's a sheep icon so you know which drive is where ... brilliant ... no issue's .

Burn with imgburn once the iso has been figured out ...

As steveryan stated, it helps if we know what you are trying to do. ISO files are just disc images. Open up your burning program, load the image, burn to disc and enjoy. If you are trying to do something else, then burning isn't necessary, but we need to know what you are trying to do.

And what do you see when you browse to that CD in Windows? If it's just the single ISO file again, you've burnt it the wrong way. Try ImgBurn to burn it as an IMAGE file rather than as a DATA file.

Open the image in your burning app and burn to disc OR use a program such as Alcohol 120% to mount the image and play directly from the iso.

After I d/l the program, I used Nero to burn to a CD-R. It was suggested to transfer it as an image, so I did. I tried other ways to transfer it, but they didn't work. I still don't understand why I needed to t'fer a piece of software as an image, but that what I was told would work.

When I try to open the CD-R with the software, my computer takes me to Sonic MyDVD and I get a message box that opens and says "this is not a compatible file" or something to that affect with an "ok" clickable button. When I click "OK" Sonic MyDVD continues and opens as if I want to edit a DVD project.

Here is exactly what I did -- just tried it again.

    1) place .iso file CD-R into drive.
    2) open isobuster
    3) choose run and extract
    4) after #3, the following message pops up: "This Is Not A Valid MyDVD Project File"
    5) click "OK"
    6) Sonic MyDVD prgram opens as if I want to create/edit a disc.

    Now what???

If that's the case, and you HAVE burned the image correctly to CD, then there's no reason to be using ISObuster for anything at all...put the CD into your computer, open the MY COMPUTER icon, open the drive corresponding to the CD. You should see either

    1) a single .ISO file = you DIDN'T burn it as an image
    2) some folders and/or EXE files = look for SETUP or INSTALL and double-click it
    3) a VIDEO_TS folder = it's actually a DVD movie disk; use MPC or similar to play it
    4) an MPEGAV folder = it's a VCD or SVCD movie disk
    5) various *.CDA files = it's an audio CD
    6) who knows????

some details on what you can actually see, rather than explanations of what you're trying to do would help out

This is what I see: When I go to My Computer, I see that a CD-R is in the E drive. When I click on that, I see an icon with the CD-R's title. When I place the pointer over the icon, it says, "Type ISO file," "date motified," and "size."

So, if you see an iso-type file, you have to mount this (with Daemontools) as virtual CD.

Or, as I stated above (twice), burn the image to disc (NOT as data). You can also READ the STICKY at the top of the forum.
