I got this really old film called Cyborg 2 in French. I downloaded the English subtitles from:

    http://www.opensubtitles.org/subtitles/158914

however I think the subtitles start 2 seconds early. The subtitles file is in a format that I am not familiar with, eg.

    {217}{282}In the year 2074,
{290}{332}planet earth is caught|in the grip
    {337}{395}of high-powered|corporate warfare.

and the file extension was just plain .txt

Does anyone know exactly what type of subtitle format this file is in, and what editor I can use to increment the time by 2 seconds?

Micro dvd and powerdivx share similar reference's ... subtitle workshop .
I think subrip also support's one type of output with the same pattern .

There simple enough to convert over to another format .

    Powerdivx looks like :

    {0:00:16}{0:00:18}- Here?
    {0:00:20}{0:00:23}- Go on.
    {0:00:28}{0:00:32}- Must I
    {0:00:32}{0:00:36}- Travel
    {0:00:38}{0:00:44}- Reach you

    Micro dvd , as :

    {1}{1}25.000
    {401}{470}{Y:i}- Here?
    {514}{591}{Y:i}- Go on.
    {714}{817}{Y:i}- Must I

The followed by are indicator's for italic .

As it is originally and English movie...why not just find an original version. It's silly to use/watch an English movie dubbed to French with English subtitles.
