Audio Video in sync pre-burn, out of sync during playback. Please Help.

Hi.

Ok here's the situation. I have a couple of movies that I need to get off my comp. but are too big to put onto 1 CD, so I need them in 2 parts. I used a splitter called "Fast AVI Mpeg Splitter", and it does what it says. No loss of quality in the movie, and the sound matches the video. So now the video is in 2 parts.

I burn using Nero 7 Ultra or something, I don't know. Anyways, I make an SVCD to get the best quality (2 passes, 4:3 ratio, 2000kb/s). It burns without any errors. Now, when I playback the movie on my DVD player, the audio slowly gets out of sync with the video. Well, the video happens first, then the sound follows. This happens roughly at about 20mins of both parts of the movie and gets worse. There is no out of sync problems on the two parts on my computer though. Movie is encoded in PAL, and my DVD player supports this function.

So now for the second twist. Another movie I have on my comp is already in two parts. I didn't need to split it. I burnt that using the same options (movie is also in PAL), and the playback has no problems.

Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Thanks for all the help.

You are basically performing two functions, converting from avi to mpeg and then burning to disc. Your problem is in the conversion stage. Nero sucks at conversion, try a different tool.

Thank you. Why does Nero suck so bad though? I don't understand how 1 movie could work properly, but the other one have issues when I'm burning using the same settings.

The simple answer is because there is no standard for avi files.

Not too mention that Nero itself is a burning app. If you want to burn discs get a burning app, if you want to convert video, get a video conversion app.
