I've heard that the new Vista operating system from Microsoft has caved in to the entertainment industry by imposing some restrictions on editing music and video. The person who told me this did not have any details.
He said he'd heard that it would intentionally NOT work with certain older hardware drivers, and it would cripple some functionality that people have enjoyed in the past.
Has anybody else heard this? Does anybody have specifics?

Sounds like bollocks to me.
The one area that hardware will be an issue is audio. Vista has a new audio system that requires new drivers. Current WDM drivers won't install. This doesn't affect ASIO.
Vista also has more DRM features - this can impact the ability, for example, to send HD component video to a display *that doesn't support the DRM*.
But nothing that will prevent you from editing *your own* material.John Miller
