  1. I have avi movies and .srt subtitles in the same folder with the same name. I followed the guide to add permanent subtitles by by encoding the avi files to mpeg using TMPGEnc while VobSub is running and thus subtitles get embedded in the output mpeg video.

    I then burnt the videos into VCD and DVD and watched them.

    While watching the VCD and DVD on my dvd player i noticed that some subtitles were missing.( Around 20 %). First i thought the problem was with the subtitle file. So i played the avi on my computer and all subtitles were displayed perfectly. Where does the problem lie?

    Try opening the SRT file with Subtitle Workshop.

    Then click "Tools/Information and errors" to see if it reports anything wrong with the file. It may warn you of, for instance, overlapping times, that may work on a PC but are problematic on a player.
