I have MPEG-II standard def TV episodes and trying to use TMPG DVD Author Pro V2 to prepare menu and prepare an episodic DVD. TMPG Author detects that the episodes have videobitrate of 10000 kbps and warns it exceeds the max 9800 kbps bit rate for MPEG-II for DVD players and may be a problem.
Is this likely to be a problem and how do I fix the files to 9800 bitrate. What do I use.

Is TMPG Enc an app that will do this and easy to use and what does it actually do?

I also have DVD rebuilder Pro and DVDRemake Pro and Nero Recode V2.3 but not sure what they do. I am new to all of this.

THe same episodes from the same TV digital capture card were successfully compiled onto an episodic DVD using Nero Vision and plays Ok on my DVD player.

Does TMPG DVD Author do much the same thing as Nero Vision and does it do it better?

I do not know how to use any apps that check and change bitrate etc or will ver VBR to optimum.

I normally use DVD Shrink to shrink any files if they are bigger than 4.6 GB

    Appreciate

  2. Try just ignoring the warning in TMPGenc DVD Author. I get that warning every once in awhile. I don't know what causes it, but I ignore it, and the DVD turns out fine.

Playing around one day I captured a show @ 15Mbps CBR, put it on a DVD RW and it played fine in my set top player.

Your cap probably peaked at 9800 or something. I wouldn't worry about it.

    Good luck.
