  1. Hey guys. First of all, as this is my first post, let me say hello

Seems my Toshiba SD400, which has been performing flawlessly for nearly two years now, has developed an odd problem. Lately it sounds as if it's constantly seeking when it plays any sort of DVDs (store-bought movies, burned discs, anything). It's gotten so loud now that it's really distracting unless I crank the volume up really high on the TV. Strange thing is, it hasn't affected playback at all.....everything still plays fine, with no freezing or stuttering.

Any idea what might be causing this? My parents have another SD4900, bought only two weeks later, and so far their unit isn't making any of these noises.

    Thanks

  2. My 4900 basically just died the other day -- it wouldn't open/close and starting making "cycling" noises, pausing during movies and such.

I was hugely upset b/c this has been my favorite region free player, so I actually opened up my older Toshiba 3900, removed the drive (which still works great) and plopped it in the 4900...now it works like a charm again

My only thought is that the 4900 wasn't constructed as durably, at least in terms of the drive...
