  1. I've recently authored a DVD (with TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6) that will be about 7.5 gigs in size. Once DVD Author created the files for burning, I decided to convert the files to an ISO with DVD Shrink (without compressing any of the files...I just wanted an ISO in order to burn it with DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn. When I went to "Display IFO Layer Break Information" on ImgBurn, it said:

"Optomal L1 Data Zone Start LBA: None Found! (VTS_10) This image has not been mastered correctly for burning onto a double layer (OTP track path) disc. None of the cells meet the 'DVD-Video specification' criteria for a potential layer break position."

All I want to do is to let ImgBurn find a suitable position to put in the layer break before I burn the disc on a DVD+R-DL disc. Now I'm afraid the whole project may not have been authored correctly (even though the ISO plays perfectly on my computer). I've burned many single layered discs created by DVD Author, but this will be my first double-layer attempt. Can someone please help me and tell me what I've done wrong, and how I can correct it before burning? I don't want to create a double layer coaster, as these can become expensive...Any help is greatly appreciated!

Which version of IMGBURN are you using? The latest version can BUILD from a valid VIDEO_TS folder. In BUILD mode, load the folder, and it should popup a window to let you pick your LB.

From BUILD mode, you can burn directly to Disc, or create an ISO image.

I'm wondering if your video title has NO Chapter Points, and it runs long enough to start on Layer-0 and end on Layer-1. If so, you might have to strategically add a chapter point in that Title...

  3. Thanks GeorgeW, I used the build mode and it allowed me to pick one of 2 layer break positions. One question though...Once I pick the layer break position, and IMGBURN creates an ISO of my DVD, is there anyway I can play the ISO and be able to see where exactly the layer break was created? Thanks for your help.

When you picked the LB, it should have listed the Titleset and PGC/Cell -- you can then open up your original DVD (from the folders) using PGCedit, and double-click the Title to see where that cell is (press the PLAY button all the way on the right side for that cell).

I use PgcEdit to make layer breaks from the VIDEO_TS folder on my HDD & build the iso before burning.

    http://www.digital-digest.com/~blutach/dl_burn_guide2/dl_burning_with_pgcedit_v2.htm

Seem's to give me more & better LB options than using ImgBurn, then i use ImgBurn just to burn the iso's.
It's easier than it look's at first glance of that guide.

    cocopugg,

ImgBurn was correct when it said:
This image has not been mastered correctly for burning onto a double layer (OTP track path) disc.
Notice it's complaining about the "image" or ISO, and not the project itself. DVDShrink shouldn't be used to create DL ISOs. It was never intended for that purpose, and will not make a correct DL ISO. It's fine for SL, just not DL.

...is there anyway I can play the ISO and be able to see where exactly the layer break was created?
In your case, you would probably be better off following Noahtuck's advice to use PgcEdit. When you set the layer break in PgcEdit, you can preview where the layer break will go before setting it, which allows you to choose the layer break with a clearer understanding of what your choices are.
