I captured footage with my still camera (Canon G6) and it plays back fine in Media Player but when I import it into Vegas, it only has sound. Why is this, and how do I fix it?

  2. Most likely Vegas cannot use the MJPEG codec required.

Microsoft provides a DirectShow-based MJPEG codec with DirectX. Media Player will use it.

It suggests Vegas may not be DirectShow savvy (which is shameful but wouldn't surprise me...)

Hmm, any solutions? Maybe a free utility that would convert my AVI to something else Vegas could use?

  4. Can you import the video into Windows Movie Maker?

If so, you can use it to convert the video to DV format. It should then be visible in Vegas.

By default, Windows Movie Maker will render to WMV. Choose the DV option instead:

    Save Movie File...
    My Computer
    Give the movie a name
    Next
    Other Settings (DV-NTSC)
    Next

It will start saving the movie.
