    Hi!

I'm looking to get a new DVD player or recorder specifically for DIVX/XVID playback. My current one (Dual DVD859) is messing up a bit, so its time for a new one.

The question is, which one to get? There are so many on the market these days. And none really give you much info or specifics.

I need one that can use soft subtitles on divx/xvids, and hopefully with upgradable firmware.
My current one stutters on occasion, so i'd like one with high compatability, if possible. And fairly cheap.

So, anyone got any help for me? Which one should i go for? Keep in mind i live in the UK, so it would have to be available here.

Thank you for any help you can give, I had my heart set on a 'Funai DR-B3737' recorder (For £60!!!!), but it was gone from ASDA when I went to get it! So hopefully you can help with alternatives.

    Cheers
    Chris

  2. The Philips DVP-5960 is probably your best bet. There are many threads here about it.

More expensive: Oppo makes good players with Divx ability but I don't know if they're available in the UK. Same for IO Data's Linkplayer2.
