Writing DVD's including alternate audio tracks

This may seem like a bit of dumb question, but I couldn't find anything in the sticky threads to help so I guess I've got to ask.

Basically, I'm trying to rip one episode of a TV series and burn it to DVD, indluding the directors commentary.

I rip it using MacTheRipper Title and Chapter extraction. First time, I ripped it and ignored the whole demux and streams thing. It ends up with just a .Vob file in a VIDEO_TS folder. This Vob, when watched back directly on VLC, lets me change between audio tracks (regular and commentary) as I please. As soon as I burn it, using Toast 8 Titanium, and try to watch it back, the main audio track works fine, but the 2nd one is no longer accesible.

Then I tried ripping it after clicking demux etc and manually selecting the audio streams and subtitles. Again it rips fine- giving me a main folder with 2 AC3 files, and spc file and an m2v file. It also includes an empty Audio_TS folder and a Video_TS video containing a Vob which again plays with two tracks.

At this point, I'm stuck- Toast wont accept the ac3 files, and won't acknoledge that Video_TS folder as a real one. I'm guessing the problem is the lack of .ifo and .bup files may be a problem, but can't work out how to make it happen.

Any ideas?

I don't understand why you're using Title and Chapter extraction. Try and rip it in 'full disk' mode, and then use DVD2OneX's full disk copy and select which audio tracks you want to keep. Then burn the resulting video_ts folder in Toast, but make sure you burn it in UDF data mode.

I was doing it that way cause I didn't want to rip 12 episodes when I only wanted 1.

Toast can only author a video DVD with a single audio track. It does let you select which track (click on the title in the Video window, click the Edit button, choose the audio track by pressing the button next to the audio description.)

The only way to include all audio tracks is to do a full disc extraction and then use Toast's Fit-to-DVD feature (presuming the original DVD is too big for a single-layer disc so that option becomes active).

The only one I'm aware of is DVD Studio Pro.
