Hey guys, just a couple more quick questions
1) CCE encodes my AVI files fine. However there are a couple of .AVI files that when opened with CCE says that the file is NOT an .AVI file. WTF? lol, any ideas why?
2) For those that use CCE. What do you do when you have to encode an MPG file over to an elementary stream like .MPV (to use in DLP)? It seems that CCE doesn't let us use .mpg files. What's the way to go about losing the least quality?
Thanks guys!!

Please post encoding questions in our conversion forum. Moving you.
1. An avi can contain different codecs. What is the video and audio codec in those that doesn't work? identify with latest gspost.
2. ??? -
Maybe the files aren't AVI files. Most media players are able to determine the file type by the content, even if it's misnamed. Open the files in GSpot and see what it says about the container.
I frameserve MPG files with AVISynth if I need to reencode them. If you just need an elementary stream use an MPEG demuxer to separate the video and audio. -
I frameserve all videos to CCE using avisynth. This ensure that they are the correct resolution and framerate (FitCD is great for this). I test the scripts in virtualdubmpeg2 first to make sure they are working, then let CCE or ProCoder do their thing.
.mpv is the video stream. You then encode the audio separately, and let DLP (or any good authoring tool) mux the two together. There is no quality loss working with elementary streams, and most professional authoring applications prefer or even insist on using them. I haven't encoded to a program stream (.mpg) in many years.Read my blog here.
