Hi, Folks, This is my first post on this forum.

We are trying to start an internet TV station using Windows Media 9 Encoder in the "pull" mode.

We have all the hardware we need and know how to use the encoder, but what we don't know is how to find out what IP number to use to send the stream, and a URL to give to viewers so they can tune in and watch our programs with their Windows Media Players.

In other words, we know our equipment is working, because we can stream to our Local Area Network (all our in-house computers) but what numbers do we enter into the software to send the audio/video stream out on the internet?

Anybody out there have experience doing their own internet TV station?

1)You can use one of the many programs that will update your ip address info to a web page that you've set up out on the internet. Your users would have to go to that web page to find out what your IP address is. That's kinda clunky.

2)You can subscribe to a service that gives you a name like "send_tv_on_inet.tzo.com". No matter if your ip address at home changes, your users will always be able to find you by entering "send_tv_on_inet.tzo.com" as the address. That's a $25 a year service with a company like www.tzo.com . They'll give you a small program that you leave in your system tray and it keeps them updated to your IP address. They have a 30 day trial of it. It works great. There are some free versions of a service like this, but I've never tried them.
