  1. Ok. So I have a laptop and I bought a External DVD Burner. its Sony DVD-RW Plus-Minus / 16x and its USB 2.0. Now, I went out a bought Mirmax DVD-R Minus (4.7) to burn on.

I'm using Nero 7 (which came with the External DVD Burner), and it seems that I'm having problems with the software (maybe). You guys might know better than I would. So, I added my Commercail I did for Converse and burned it using Nero 7. When I went to watch it on a stand-alone DVD player, It seems like every other second there was a pixal interuption.

    My Converse Video File is a 720x480, DV-AVI, 62mbs.

So I went back into Nero 7 Options and checked the burning rate for VPR or VBR (1Pass) or whatever. I switch it to (2pass) for better quailty. Anyways I'm still gettiing the problem.

My labtop is a Sony VIAO, 1.2 GHz, 256 ram, and a Athon Prosser. At the moment I'm installing DVD Encore 1.5. I use this program on my buddies computer and It always done a good job for me. I'm not a big fan with Nero beacuse its really limited on what I can do when it comes to DVD Authoring. But I was using Nero to make sure my External DVD burner was working...and it is, but I'm a little worry about this Video Problem after its done burning.

if this is not enough information, please ask me any other questions and I'll try my best to give you guys any more informtaion. Other than that,

    Thanks guys

There are several possibilities that come to mind.

First, try playing the DVD on the computer instead of the standalone player. It may be a media issue. That is the most common problem with poor playback. If you have used that media successfully with that player before, maybe not. BTW, what DVD media are you using? Is that the Mirmax DVD-R Minus you mention? Try a different brand. DVD burners and players can be very particular concerning media.

Also, if you still have the Nero converted file on the computer, try playing it directly. If it works properly, then maybe a burning problem. But media is still the most common problem again.

Use a different program to do the DV to MPEG-2 conversion. I prefer TMPGEnc as it's easy to use, but there are a lot more encoders. Then you would need an authoring program to convert to the DVD format. TMPGEnc DVD Author is also easy to use. More options, DVD Lab. Nero is fine for burning, but it doesn't much of the other things it tries very well.

For freeware, you can try HC or QuEnc encoders and DVD Authorgui or GUI for dvdauthor for freeware authoring. ImgBurn works better than Nero most times for just burning. All freeware.

If you just want a quick and easy conversion, ConvertXToDVD will do it all. But if you want best quality and control, the individual programs are best.

I would work your way back through the process steps and see if you can find where the problem starts.
