Every time I change the capture resolution higher than 320X480 in V Dub I get that error........ What gives? Aren't you supposed to capture in the same resolution that you are going to be outputing to?
Thanks.

Funny thing, I tried capturing through Videowave 5 and it let's me capture @ 720X480. Or at least it let's me set it to that I'm not sure if it defaults back when I capture. Anyone know why Virtual Dub would do this?
Thanks again.

Well what type of card are you using? ATI?? This is exactly what happened to me using my ATI Rage Fury Pro card. I updated the latest driver for my card, and after, i could cap at any resolution. I used ATI driver# 4.13.7192 Just go to their website to download. If you don't have an ATI card, then i can be of no more help. This worked for me, and i am using windows ME with v-dub. You must have DirectX 8.0 though, to use this driver. You can get that at microsoft.com.

No I am not using an ATI. I understand what you're saying about the drivers, but I have just downloaded the latest drivers for my capture card. I have DirectX 8.0 also. It is not the card because it captures 720 X 480 through Videowave perfect with no dropped frames, just V Dub.
Thanks anyway...

did you also download and install the direct show 8.x driver from microsoft?

Yeah I have Directx 8.0, I'm on Windows Xp, and I noticed on my other hard drive (Has 98SE) V Dub captures at any res I tell it to. I must not have something right.......

Now this is even wierder. I downloaded the VFW driver for Windows 2000 for my Windows XP. I could capture in a bigger format, but not much bigger. Now when I capture it shows my cpu committed 100% and I start dropping frames like crazy. Mind you I didn't drop a single frame before, and my cpu usage was around 50%. Capturing with videowave 5 it stays around 18% with no dropped frames.
The fight goes on.

7200 Hard disk, and 500mgz processor with 256 mgs RAM, actually I think it is a driver issue. When I boot to 98SE on my factory 5400 8.5 gig hard drive I have no problems.
