Maybe your player doesn't like +R, try another player or try some -R.

If your DVD player also plays DivX /XviDs, there is no need to put the AVIs into a video_ts folder.
Just burn your AVIs as a data disc and don't forget to finalize.
I usually use Nero for burning data discs.

If your DVD player does not also play Xvids/DivX files, you'll need to convert your files to DVD specs first.

    No need to be sorry

If your player can't play DivX/XviD files, your AVIs will need to be converted to DVD format so that your player can play them for you.

Here is a list of guides that may help:

    What player do you have?

  7. Ok according to this

It doesn't look like your player supports AVI play back so converting your files will need to be done.

    thanks again
one more thing, the avi file is approx 700mb then when i converted it to mpeg2 (already done) it was 800mb. then i used roxio easy cd & dvd burning, to burn it but when i import the file its about 6gb, and im only using 4.7 gb discs, what do u think i should do to fix this problem?

there is a program that came with nti called dvd fit which does this but it does not support mpeg it only supports video_TS folders

  11. I don't have experience using roxio easy cd & dvd burning (does that also convert ?) but my best guess would be that you need to lower the bitrate so it won't be too big to fit on a single layer DVDr.

You can use a bitrate calculator to help you figure out what that should be:
    https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=1#1

And then look around in the program that you used to convert your AVI to Mpeg2 and see if you can set that.

    Edit:
You updated your last post -
I'm not familiar with dvd fit

There's a very simple reason you are having problems getting your dvd's to read in your player. The Cyberhome 300 more than likely will not play them. That was the first dvd player I had & it played commercial discs fine, BUT would not play most of the dvd's that I made. That included both + & - discs. It definatly will not play Divx or RW discs. I solved the problem by getting a Philips 642 player & that plays everything I've ever put in it. So, no matter what you do you are not going to be able to play anything but commercial discs in your Cyberhome player.
The simplest solution to your problem is to burn your AVI's as data disks & if you want dvd format then convert them with the best converter around, ConvertXtoDVD. And then get yourself a player that will play all formats. In my case it was a Philips, but I'm sure you can find others listed to the left of this page under DVD Players & I'm sure there are others here that can chime in with players that they've had just as good results as I've had with the Philips. All players are not created equal.

Your PS2 can't read it either?

Maybe something went wrong w/the converting process.
Could you tell us step by step what you did , including listing the exact programs you used to convert?

And on a side note, I agree w/ dfisher052. It's MUCH easier to have a player that will play DivX/XviDs You wouldn't have to bother with this converting stuff at all.

I actually got it to work after, when i converted to avi to dvd file the first time there was a vob file missing becasue when i tried it again a little while ago there was an extra file so i tried that and it work perfect.
thanks again for your help, greatly appreciated it. im considering getting a player that play divx and xvid, it would make things a whole lot simplier. thanks again.

Most of them 700MB AVI's will play on on a DivX compatable DVD player.
Be aware the DivX community is moving towards having "DVD like" menu's.
For this newer feature you will need a DivX Ultra certified DVD player.

I'm not telling you you have to get an Ultra player, just making you aware of the difference and future compatability.

Be sure to always use good quality discs and don't burn at top speed.

  24. Don't let it discourage you.
It might seem a lot to go through at first but once you "get it', it's really not so bad.

What brand disc did you use?
