I have tried to show jpg files on 3 DVD recorders with different results. I would like to know what to expect. I have used both a "normal" TV screen, via SCART/RGB, and a HD screen with 1080i via HDMI. I want as good results as possible.
My jpg files are burnt on CD or DVD and normally in the resolution 3500xsomething, 1280xsomething or 1024xsometing. Hopefully I do not have to scale down to 720x, just to be able to show them on TV.
The results are very different. 2 recorders show reasonable quality, both with 3500x and 1280x while the last one shows terrible quality, unless 720x is used.
1) Do all recorders scale down to 720x (in better or worse ways)?
2) or if I use HDMI and a screen with 1920x, does the recorder scale down to 1920x?
The Thomson DTH-8657E and the LG RH-188H showed reasonable results, and the picture covered the screen. The Sony RDR-HX820 showed terrible results, and the picture only covered part of the screen (unless 720 px was used in the jpg file).
Does anyone has experience of Panasonic DMR-EH65EC or Thomson DTH-8654E? I want a recorder with hard disk.
Any information is welcome. I have tried to scan the forums but not found what I am looking for.
