I don't know if this is a bug or what? I am trying to convert an .avi to dvd. The info button will not dispay anything but the source format window shows the .avi to be:
AVI
mpeg4, yuv420p, 672x272
mp3, 48000 Hz, stereo, 128 kb/s
I ran a conversion using the dvd(ffmpeg) and it went fine but the picture was not suitable---severe tiling!!! So I tried the (mpeg2enc) I set it for dvd 16:9, 29.97 fps, ac3, denoise, No svcd scan, decode w/ Quicktime (I have the Quicktime mpeg codec) altivac, bicubic, author as dvd(video_ts).
I hit encode and it seemed to run fine. After awhile I came back to check on it. When I attempted to open the progress info window the ffmpegx progress window started sucking up all the cpu and shut down the yuvdenoise, yuvscaler and the movtoy4m. Then my iMac prompted me to shut using the by holding the on-off switch. So, I tried it again thinking there was a mistake I made. At 94% complete I tried to view again...and it crashed again. So, I tried it again and left it running over night. It shut itself down and offered me to restart close or report...I said forget it and I'm asking you!!!
Please help!!
Here is the log at the beginning of the encoding...It lets me veiw it for awhile....

Try to use the option "Open in Terminal Window" in the ffmpegX menu (apple bar) to see if it changes anything.
-
Thanks Major, that seemed to do the trick. It completed the encoding.
There must be a problem with the ffmepX Progress and it only occures
when encoding with the mpeg2enc. Or, of course, user error!!!!
Thanks again for your quick response and this wonderful collaberation
called ffmpegX.

Apparently the problem lies with the humongus output mpeg2enc does. the Progress.app can't handle that much output and gets very slow and very memory hungry as the encode progresses..
maybe when using mpeg2enc, a --verbose 0 option should be enabled...
after 2 full lenght movie encodings, progress was using 1GB of Real Memory...
