That doesn't sound like a disc problem. Try ConvertXToDVD instead of WinAVI and some of your problems may go away.

Drop one of your converted videos into Gspot 2.60 and see what it says. Look for the framerate (fps) Are you sure you are outputting to the NTSC standards? Look to the upper left on this page for 'WHAT IS' DVD for the DVD specification and format.

That bitrate is very low for a DVD. It might be acceptable for 1/2 D1 format. (352 x 480 pixels MPEG2 (Called Half-D1, same as the CVD Standard)) Most DVDs would have a bitrate up around 5000 kbps or higher. I don't think that would cause slow playback, just poor quality video.

The framerate seems OK at 29.970 fps. Is the AVI framerate the same or did you do a framerate conversion somewhere?

How long is the video, I mean playing time? If I plug your bitrate into a bitrate calculator, it shows a playing time of about 3 1/2 hours at 2600 kbps bitrate to fit to a regular DVD. https://www.videohelp.com/calc.htm A two hour DVD should have a bitrate of about 4800 kbps.

I am trying svcd format on my cd.those I showed you in from
scvd format, not dvd,but dvd is the same way on play back.
480x480. I cut a few min from the avi to test the scvd format
I will see if the frame rate is the same. avi fram is 23.976
the scvd is 29.970.i dont know how to do a framework conversion
    1 min 18 sec long
any ideas what I can do next? because I really want to make
this work out, because I have tons of movies I want to burn
eith on cd or dvd,but I make sure we get this corrected
somehow and what im doing wrong.
