Hello,
I know that the Panasonic rv31 can not play svcds. However, I read that this unit can still play mpeg2 videos if burnt with nero and using VCD format. Is this correct? Also, at what resolution and bit rate will work.
I'm sorry if this topic was brought up previously. I'm new to the vcd world.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Max bitrate of ~2.6 mbps, VCD res of 352x240/480 and 720x480, only works with TMPG mpeg2 video files...or should say only those enocders that allow you to change the VBV buffer size. This player is very picky about the VCD buffer size being around 40 KB. So be sure to change that, TMPG is the only app I have used that allows for this (really hoping the latest version CCE would allow for this).
However, me and many others on this forum are of the opinion that there is no difference tween mpeg1 & mpeg2 at equal resolutions & bitrate. Thus, going out your way to encode an mpeg2 into a VCD for this player is somewhat of a pointless exercise unless you trying to take advantage of a mpeg2 extra features such as subtitles.
