  1. I have 2 xvid videos. For some reason, I can only play one of them. I downloaded Gspot (a program that tells you what format the video is) and it says that both are Xvid and that the codec isn't installed. WTF? How can I watch other xvid videos if the codec isn't installed? (FYI: I am able to watch other xvids.)
So why am I not able to watch one and not the other?

Maybe the avi xvid is corrupt?
    What do you play with?
    What is the audio codec?
Tried play with vlc? it has builtin codecs.

Sweeeeet. I really like VLC. It was able to play the video, but the video stopped after 2 seconds. Must be something wrong with the video. I tried fixing it with ASF-AVI-RM-WMV Repair, but it caused the video to lose audio sync and get large pixilations every now and then.

Anyone know of a good video repair program?

You can try loading it in VirtualDub or one of its variants, and see if any errors pop up regarding the video (also try "Scan video stream for errors..." under the Video menu). There's also DivFix, but I think that's mostly for broken indexes. I haven't tried DivFix+, so I can't comment on it.
