I've read this great article about blank media quality: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

I read that blank TDK dvd's with media ID "TTH01" or "TTH02" could be fake... But the same media ID is mentioned for genuine TDK media...

How do I know if my dvd's are fake or genuine?

You don't. The only way to check is by media code.

Unless you are having some sort of burning or other media related issue, there really is no point. If they work, then it's no big deal. The only thing you can really do is purchase from a reputable source.

I'd take the article you cite with a grain of salt. Anyone's personal experience may vary widely from their rankings.

I have burned thousands of disks and have never had failure rates as high as their second tier ranking let alone the lower tiers.

I don't know whose burns they use in compiling the data but suspect the source includes defective drives, ancient drives, wrong burn speeds, out of date firmware, improperly hacked firmware and other non-media related factors.

If your drive is modern, rated for the burn speed of the media and the media is supported by your firmware you may have significantly better results with all but the worst of media. And frankly, a physical examination of failed media will probably show the manufacturing inadequacy.

If your TDK disks work in your drive, where they were made is irrelevant.
