  1. Just in case anyone is interested, the Philips HTS 3450 - a fairly cheap ($150.00) combo DVD player and 5.1 speaker system, will play an SVCD with Multichannel MPG 5.1. Audio created with Hypercube.

This was just a short test disk, I have not actually made a full-length SVCD with 5.1. I may have to try it from a DVD rip, just because it's there.

The amp does have additional audio inputs, no video switching. Has Coax digital input. Component, S-video, and composite.

SVCD with 5.1 audio is about as unpopular a thing as I have ever heard of!

I mean did anyone actually make any like this "back in the day" and why would someone make a SVCD today when DVD burners and recorders and media is so cheap?

    Talk about a "niche" market.

  3. SFAIK, no one has ever reported success in creating and using such a disk.

Agree there is little real use for such an item, however somebody somewhere may find this useful. I am amazed by the amount of traffic still received in the SVCD forums.
