  1. Hi all
I have purchased a Philips HTS3378 system, i want to convert my movies which usually are avi or mp4 (h264) to a format which can easily be playable on system
it has a usb port, i tried to convert them to dvd movies and copy them into usb , but the problem is that the subtitles are on strange colors and sometimes the video playback is laggy ! but when i write those files into dvd everything is playing fine.
i want to know if there is a way to convert movies with subtitles (which are in srt format and in persian language) for playing them with usb port in HTS ?
also please help me to choose the best way for converting movies with best quality possible !
    many thnx

  2. According to the HTS3378 manual, the file types it can play are:
This Home Theater System plays/views MP3, WMA, DivX (Ultra) or JPEG fi les on the following USB devices:
    • digital camera that complies with the PTP standard
    • flash drive
    • memory card reader
    • HDD (external power source needed)

If the files are going to be converted, try DivX or WMA to see which one works to meet the expectation. Use small clips to save time and space until your choice is made.

  3. thnx, the player said its suppoting upscaling to 1080p resolution, should i convert movies in full hd format or others ?

  4. If the files are not already in HD, then I would say "No, as the device will upscale them". If they are already HD, then yes. Bear in mind that HD files require extra processing time in order to make them DivX or WMA than do SD files.

  5. for example when i convert them to mpeg4 HD video 720p (1280x720) the player says the resolution is not supported ! should i downscale to 720x576 or downgrade the bitrate which currently is 4500 or change something else ?

  6. In the post above, taken directly from the HTS3378 manual, it says nothing about support for mpeg4 HD video 720. So that is probably the reason. Try the DivX HD format, or ask Philips support what to use.
