PLEASE HELP Hi All. I am on a Mac PowerBook 17 in with 2 GB Ram and 100 MB Hard Drive. I downloaded the program ffmpegX in order to convert airings that I taped of a shopping show with our products in it onto the computer. They were origionally on Video and I was able to record them onto DVD on our recorder. So now I have spend hours trying to get this program to work correctly and consistantly. I was able to convert one file from VOB to MPEG and only that file. Every othjer file of the same type that I try simply goes through the motions very quickly the bell rings and the file is zero in size. Does anyone knowwhat I can do to make this work? Is it me? Is it the program? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Two days and I am spent on this. Also any other suggestions of programs that could make these conversions would be appreciated as well. Thanks. Rich richco1@earthlink.net

  2. Try "Invert mapping" in the audio tab when encoding finishes immediately. If this does not fix, email me to major4@mac.com with the error messages (click the blue "i" icon in the Progress window to get them).

I am having the same issues I believe. I am attempting to demux (then mux) mpeg-2 files that I encoded on a PC using an Adaptec Videoh! encoder. I was told I need to mux/demux them b/c the author would not work but either way I am having trouble. I get a few min of progress bar then ding, 0kb file.

Details say: "warning: couldn't find any valid system header. I'm continuing anyway"

Under a major crunch on this one, any help would be great! I am simply trying to turn my mpeg2 files in to DVD ready VOB's without re-encoding (losing quality).

    Thanks,
    Evan

I should mention that I did simple cutting operations on the mpeg-2 sources using Mpeg Video Wizard by Womble Media so the outputs are clean GOP accurate mpeg streams. In ffmpegX>tools>demux i am getting really random results. It appears I am getting 1 good m2v file and then a slew of other m2v/mp3/mp2 files that are all 4k in size (junk). Output info:

warning: couldn't find any valid system header. I'm continuing anyway
    Demultiplexing : [audio 11 video 04] [100.00%]

    HELP PLEASE!

    Evan,

Are you using the free download version or the paid version? I hadtrouble with the free version so I would not take a chance witht he paid version. I wrote to the company that puts out the program and they ignored menever writing back. I would look for alternative programs as this company doesn't seem to support their product. We tried a product called "Convert Movie" and it seems to work. Let me know how it goes.

I have the free version, I just got it actually so I was about to buy it thinking that might help something. Thanks for the tip, I'll look into the other program. Too bad, b/c this one seems to be feature rich and simple.

Does't look like Convert Movie will make VOB files out of MPEG-2. Bummer.
